AVT (Kirkland, WA – 425-820-6000) has upped the utility of its CallXpress Unified Messaging server by adding OmniBridge, a networking gateway that integrates CallXpress with other companies' proprietary voicemail systems. Intra-system message transport can be sent over IP; the appeal is to multi-location companies with differing and therefore isolated voicemail servers, a state of affairs often resulting from company mergers and acquisitions.

The first version of OmniBridge ties to CallXpress unified messaging with an Avaya Octel network system. OmniBridge can be inserted into an OctelNet network and serve as a bridge that can both reroute an incoming OctelNet analog message call to a CallXpress user mailbox, and translate outgoing CallXpress Digital Networking messages into the OctelNet Analog Networking format, to be delivered to a subscriber on an Octel messaging system.

Future versions of OmniBridge will link to other proprietary network voice messaging systems. OmniBridge is immediately available through the network of AVT channel partners and AVT Direct.

CallXpress, integrating with both Lotus Notes and Microsoft Outlook GUIs, scales to support up to 10,000 users on a single server. Multiple CallXpress servers can be networked together for the multi-site enterprise.

T1 Line Card for Copper Mountain DSLAMs Widens Broadband Carriers' Reach

Copper Mountain Networks (Palo Alto, CA – 650-687-3300) has introduced a customer-facing T1 line card for its popular CopperEdge line of DSL Concentrators. Strictly speaking, it's a non-DSL enhancement, but it allows packet-based voice and data service providers to reach customers beyond the geographic limit of Symmetric DSL, and lets them provision service within the CopperEdge's IP-optimized system of bandwidth allocation and QoS. It makes particular sense for next-gen carriers, who may now pipe the voice and data traffic of additional far-flung customers across IP softswitches, gateways, and media servers.

The new line card, carrying 12 T1 ports, also expands the market to include customers who are served by Digital Loop Carrier (DLC) equipment, another stumbling block to DSL deployment.

Dialogic's box can be mated to their own EPG 6U Alarm Board SNMP (called the ABSNMP), which helps you to remotely monitor and manage systems and control other Dialogic Alarm Boards over an IP network.

Diversified Technology Diversified Technology Inc. (Ridgeland, MS – 601-856-4121) has a slew of new cPCI products, all churning out of their enormous, highly advanced Mississippi factory.

Their FTC621 is a 14U (24.5-inch) CompactPCI rackmount chassis. With a 6U card cage of 19 slots, its standard backplane has one slot for the processor module, two slots for PPB modules, and 16 cPCI expansion slots for peripherals. The processor slot is 2.4 inches wide to accommodate advanced CPUs with large heat sinks.

The backplane supports the ECTF H.110 CT bus at all 16 expansion slots. P3 and P5 connectors at each slot include long tails and AB rear shrouds.

The FTC621's power subsystem (consisting of 150W, 3U supplies) can be configured in various ways.
